Oh what a trip it's been!

And we just started the journey!!!
I love my new kids. We are going to have a super time this year. We're taking over the old greenhouse and planting flowers and veggies for wintertime....who wouldn't love a fresh tomato or a sunflower in December?
Each morning, I play a song that goes along with our morning quote. So far, the kids have discovered John Lennon, Bob Marley and The Doobie Brothers! We think about important things like love, kindness, and karma. I hope they see where I'm going with this...trying to invite them on the Peace Train with me...come along! Enjoy the ride!

One of or quotes was a saying from Zimbabwe "If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing." I love that. I asked them to reflect, they said, "I think it means - if you can walk, you can dance and if you can talk, you can sing." Oooh deep!! We are "thinking about thinking" I hope they get something out if it.

I just finished NEW MOON. It was better than Gabby said...I like the wherewolves versus the vampires! Throw godzilla in there and we'll have a real PARTY!!!

Stay tuned for more details!
XOXO
Hugs,
Mrs. W

p.s. CARMEN I MISS YOU TOO!! COME OVER ANYTIME!!! :)

Hello Families!

Welcome to the new school year! My name is Mrs. Heather Weasler and I will be your Homeroom, Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies teacher this year! I’m hoping you had a beautiful and restful summer full of splashing, playing, having picnics and READING!
I had a wonderful summer! I took my 5 year old son Tristan to the beach, the library, and the park and we also worked on our garden which was really fun. We read several books together and I read a few grown-up ones too! Reading, as you will soon find out, is very important to me and I hope it is to you too. It’s just magic!
My husband Damon, my son Tristan, our two dogs Josey and Bodhi, our fish “Draw Two” and I all live out in the country in a cute little cottage where we grow vegetables and apples while enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. It truly is a spectacular life.
We are going to work hard and have a lot of fun this year. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you! One note, I would like to add one more item to the school supplies list if I could. An “oops” item I guess. Please try and purchase a composition notebook for class. They are those little black and white small notebooks and I think they come in fun colors now too! These will be our vocabulary books.
Ok! I will see you all soon! Enjoy these last few moments of freedom!  If you’d like to learn a little more about me, take a look at my blog WEASLERWORLD if you wish. http://weaslerworld.blogspot.com/

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Tuesday!

Best,

Mrs. Weasler

Twilight and other nonsense.

OK kids. I really am at a loss about this book. I just finished it and watched the movie. I guess if I was a young girl....I would LOVE all of this...it's basically a romance novel. (Movie) Edward Cullen is the Jake Ryan of my time. (Jake Ryan was a gorgeous polite respectful boy who drove a porsche and wore loafers...it was the 80's what can you do?) But he ruined it for ALL the boys in my generation I think. (Boys just aren't like that.) And Ed is going to be the Jake for all of you. But I HOPE you are all intelligent enough to not let all your power go into whether a boy likes you or not.....LOVE YOURSELF. You are, and will always be, your only TRUE BEST FRIEND and don't ever think that someone can fill that role for you. As long as you focus on all that is good within you (and trust me, you have TONS of good things) then you will be happy. The nerdiest, weirdest kids in school ended up being AMAZING PEOPLE when they grew up. No matter who you are and what you look like, you can be amazing too! Look at Jim Carrey - do you think he made life easy for his teachers? YIKES!

Now, as far as the movie and book goes, I am so glad you read it...remember when I used to say we are doing push ups for the mind? Well, even though there are only a few challenging words - it is a big big book and you've gained a lot in the fluency department for sure! Did anyone use their strategies while reading this? Just curious. The movie was fun and Edward was even dreamier than in my imagination and it was really creative and fun. It was suprisingly a lot like the book! Well done. I have started New Moon...not sure I will finish...we'll see.

PROBLEMS?

I've gotten several emails from some of you stating that you are unable to post to this blog....I know Domi and Carmen can do this. I wonder if you need to join BLOGGER to have this permission?
Give that a try, IF your parents allow it.
LOTS GOING ON!
Dells tomorrow...I am bringing TWILIGHT and hopefully I can finish while the boys slip around. (I'm on 282 folks....I can't hear you clapping???) NEW MOON is waiting patiently for me to finish. Eddie (we're on a first name basis now) just gave Bel the smoocheroo! I wonder if it was like smooching a popcicle! (Refreshing!) I'm wondering what to read aloud to the next group of kiddos I will be so grateful to teach next year...any suggestions?
I heard Susan and Amanda are reading Harry Potter - should I? I still haven't - I guess I'm waiting for Triz. If I do, and the kids haven't read it yet, they are sure to get hooked no? Alright, sorry to blather on. Hugs to you all and hope you are safe and HAPPY!
