Oh what a trip it's been!

And we just started the journey!!!
I love my new kids. We are going to have a super time this year. We're taking over the old greenhouse and planting flowers and veggies for wintertime....who wouldn't love a fresh tomato or a sunflower in December?
Each morning, I play a song that goes along with our morning quote. So far, the kids have discovered John Lennon, Bob Marley and The Doobie Brothers! We think about important things like love, kindness, and karma. I hope they see where I'm going with this...trying to invite them on the Peace Train with me...come along! Enjoy the ride!

One of or quotes was a saying from Zimbabwe "If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing." I love that. I asked them to reflect, they said, "I think it means - if you can walk, you can dance and if you can talk, you can sing." Oooh deep!! We are "thinking about thinking" I hope they get something out if it.

I just finished NEW MOON. It was better than Gabby said...I like the wherewolves versus the vampires! Throw godzilla in there and we'll have a real PARTY!!!

Stay tuned for more details!
XOXO

p.s. CARMEN I MISS YOU TOO!! COME OVER ANYTIME!!! :)

Hello Families!

Welcome to the new school year! My name is Mrs. Heather Weasler and I will be your Homeroom, Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies teacher this year! I’m hoping you had a beautiful and restful summer full of splashing, playing, having picnics and READING!
I had a wonderful summer! I took my 5 year old son Tristan to the beach, the library, and the park and we also worked on our garden which was really fun. We read several books together and I read a few grown-up ones too! Reading, as you will soon find out, is very important to me and I hope it is to you too. It’s just magic!
My husband Damon, my son Tristan, our two dogs Josey and Bodhi, our fish “Draw Two” and I all live out in the country in a cute little cottage where we grow vegetables and apples while enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. It truly is a spectacular life.
We are going to work hard and have a lot of fun this year. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you! One note, I would like to add one more item to the school supplies list if I could. An “oops” item I guess. Please try and purchase a composition notebook for class. They are those little black and white small notebooks and I think they come in fun colors now too! These will be our vocabulary books.
Ok! I will see you all soon! Enjoy these last few moments of freedom!  If you’d like to learn a little more about me, take a look at my blog WEASLERWORLD if you wish. http://weaslerworld.blogspot.com/

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Tuesday!

Best,

Mrs. Weasler

Twilight and other nonsense.

OK kids. I really am at a loss about this book. I just finished it and watched the movie. I guess if I was a young girl....I would LOVE all of this...it's basically a romance novel. (Movie) Edward Cullen is the Jake Ryan of my time. (Jake Ryan was a gorgeous polite respectful boy who drove a porsche and wore loafers...it was the 80's what can you do?) But he ruined it for ALL the boys in my generation I think. (Boys just aren't like that.) And Ed is going to be the Jake for all of you. But I HOPE you are all intelligent enough to not let all your power go into whether a boy likes you or not.....LOVE YOURSELF. You are, and will always be, your only TRUE BEST FRIEND and don't ever think that someone can fill that role for you. As long as you focus on all that is good within you (and trust me, you have TONS of good things) then you will be happy. The nerdiest, weirdest kids in school ended up being AMAZING PEOPLE when they grew up. No matter who you are and what you look like, you can be amazing too! Look at Jim Carrey - do you think he made life easy for his teachers? YIKES!

Now, as far as the movie and book goes, I am so glad you read it...remember when I used to say we are doing push ups for the mind? Well, even though there are only a few challenging words - it is a big big book and you've gained a lot in the fluency department for sure! Did anyone use their strategies while reading this? Just curious. The movie was fun and Edward was even dreamier than in my imagination and it was really creative and fun. It was suprisingly a lot like the book! Well done. I have started New Moon...not sure I will finish...we'll see.

Oh I think I figured it out.

I think you need to CLICK ON THE WORD COMMENTS. See if that helps.
BODHI IS SOOOO big now and is a PAIN IN THE TUKKAS! Eating garbage and drinking from the toilet....EEEWWW!! And he just licked my FACE!! AAAHHH!!! Who want's a cow sized puppy?!?!? TAKERS???

PROBLEMS?

I've gotten several emails from some of you stating that you are unable to post to this blog....I know Domi and Carmen can do this. I wonder if you need to join BLOGGER to have this permission?
Give that a try, IF your parents allow it.
LOTS GOING ON!
Dells tomorrow...I am bringing TWILIGHT and hopefully I can finish while the boys slip around. (I'm on 282 folks....I can't hear you clapping???) NEW MOON is waiting patiently for me to finish. Eddie (we're on a first name basis now) just gave Bel the smoocheroo! I wonder if it was like smooching a popcicle! (Refreshing!) I'm wondering what to read aloud to the next group of kiddos I will be so grateful to teach next year...any suggestions?
I heard Susan and Amanda are reading Harry Potter - should I? I still haven't - I guess I'm waiting for Triz. If I do, and the kids haven't read it yet, they are sure to get hooked no? Alright, sorry to blather on. Hugs to you all and hope you are safe and HAPPY!

Fourth of July and other tid bits...

Well, things were pretty low key this weekend. Tristan and I went to my parents house in the Chicagoland area for a mini-reunion with HS friends and a swim or two. My parents are trying to sell their house and we had to clean it really good on Sunday morning because people were coming to see it. Ugh! If the weather cooperates, I think my little family will finally do something fun together and go to the dells for a day! Woo hoo! Time to start some sit ups! I'm about half-way through Twilight and I still really enjoy it. Edward just drove Bella home from Port Charles where she was almost attacked by some hoodlems. I hope you kids (GIRLS) learn a lesson from that. You KNOW there isn't an EDWARD CULLEN who will come save you if you are making a bad choice and wandering the streets alone. BE SAFE.

Ok kiddos, off to do some chores around the house. One more assignment....WEAR SUNSCREEN! My aunt just found out she has cancer in her skin and she was always very careful in the sun....just make sure you always have it...or a hat....wrinkles stink too!
Hugs,
Mrs. W

Father's Day Video

Yoga Shmoga

That didn't last very long! I don't think I've done YOGA YET! I am very busy in the yard and that just wipes me out! I just started reading TWILIGHT finally...wow. I read 70 pages in like an hour. Now I know what you girls are talking about! I'm hooked! I WON'T see the movie till I'm done. I can't wait to sink my teeth back into it! (wink wink) Oh how I would have LOVED to know an Edward Cullen in high school! Vampire or not! I hope you are all READING.

What is going on in Evansville? Are you all headed to the 4th of July celebration in town? Has anyone been to Great America? DO TELL!

I am going to my parents for the 4th and will have a High School class reunion. That should be fun. I'm hoping to go see some live music with friends at Summerfest. Maybe we will run in to each other in town. I always stop in E'Ville to get gas on the way home or to my folks place.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT - SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT.
Pick out a good book, grab a blanket and some snacks, leave your PHONE AT HOME, and find a beautiful wise tree and get reading!

XOXO

HI Kids!

How is your summer going? No one is posting news for me and I want to hear about your books!
I just finished a really funny book (for grownups!) and now finally I have my hands on Twilight. I will let you know how it goes.

We are off to visit my Mother in law again. Yes she is in the hospital.... as usual. I hope the DRS figure out what's wrong with her.

Tootles!

RAIN RAIN THANK YOU!

The garden is happy it's raining and my lettuce is growing quickly. Tristan and I are indoors cleaning and getting ready for Father's Day. We're making cupcakes and home-made pretzels while watching the original LITTLE RASCALS from when I was little...actually...from when my MOM was little. Maybe even earlier than that! EGADS! Well, got to go, muffins in the oven and I feel the need to shake a tail feather with the Trizzonator. CHEERS!

WEEK ONE OF SUMMER!

I am tired already! We've been getting our garden ready for weeks and it's almost ready to start feeding us! My sister Heidi and her boyfriend visited and we had a great time. Tristan and I have been to the zoo, the park and you guessed it...THE LIBRARY where he picked out some great books...including one about BARAK OBAMA! Ah my little president to be. I am reading two really good books: SPEAK and one by Chelsea Handler. I love summer reading! Today, I begin my intense YOGA experiment. I am going to do Ashtanga Yoga every day until the 4th of July and see what happens....
I am also creating a few videos this summer....stay tuned!

Tell me what you have been up to! Comments are welcome!
